One day closer....

To Friday that is! What's Friday? Well, Ragweed's Family Jam at the Zoo, followed by the Mike McClure Band's CD release party (and the official location of the Family Jam afterparty... like it would be anywhere else?!?!)

Stopped by the Dog for a bit tonight, and caught some of Bo's show (yes, Stoney's brother). I've personally never heard Bo before, and walked in while he was playing one of his brother's songs.... Actually thought it was Stoney's CD playing! He had also brought Micah Ailes of The Great Divide along with him, and it was a really good match! I hope to see more of both of them on Wednesday night, and more of you too!!!

Stood around at the front visiting with Johnny V. (also had the Chiropractor-in-training fix my back.... good stuff.....) for a bit and noticed we had the 2006 Music Fest magazine up at the front. I've been wanting to go for the last two years, but for one reason or another, it just hasn't worked out. Anyway, I'm HOPING to make it this year, so I took a copy home to start making travel plans. From what I've heard, this is an incredible week, and I REALLY, REALLY want to make this year's celebration.

Anyway, I was reading the little blurbs about whose playing, CCR's new CD, etc..., and get to the back where they have a little "In Memory" section. Along with Kirby Standley, they had a really nice write-up about Chris LeDoux, one of my all-time favorite singer/songwriters. As I'm sure everyone knows, Chris lost a battle with cancer earlier this year, and it happened to be before we had the blog up and going, or I would have posted about it then. Anyway, Chris LeDoux was one of the very first Americana artists I'd ever heard, and while I really loved his music, the first concert I caught in Stillwater blew me away! I think it's still one of the best shows I've ever seen! Got to meet him afterwards, and I'd have to agree with whoever said he was one of the most humble, down-to-earth guys in the world. He had the kind of personality that you just had to respect, and I have to credit him with being one of the earliest influences to get me into the whole Red Dirt/Texas Music scene. His presence will be greatly missed, and I can only wish I would have had one more opportunity to see such an incredible musician and performer. God Bless Chris LeDoux.....

Kind of a spur of the moment thing here, but Nickleback's new single, Photograph, just came on, and that song kicks ass!!! Actually reminds me a little of how the Outfield sounded back in the day (they sing "Use Your Love Tonight"..., starts off "Josie's on his vacation far away", for those of you who were still playing with your Rainbow Brights back in the 80's). One of my favorite current rock bands, hands down.

I guess we're going to be subjected to the effects of Hurricane Rita on Sunday, and hopefully it doesn't wipe out our Katrina benefit, but if so, such is life. Also, got the word today that Bleu Edmondson won't be in attendance. He will be at the Ice House's Katrina benefit instead.... However, as Ragan said, more time for Texas Jack!

Alright, time to wrap it up... Besides, I need to get some rest as I doubt I'll get alot of sleep this weekend! For those of you with iron livers, Renegade Rail at the Dog tonight (Thursday), Friday Family Jam/McClure CD release, Saturday Badwater, and Sunday the Rita watch party/Katrina benefit! Hope Dusty's got the Cuervo stocked up!
