Stoney Larue/Micky & The Motorcars (Jan. 27th)

So, Saturday, January 27th. Carlos Boozer and the Utah Jazz were in town. Who cares? Stoney Larue and Micky & The Motorcars were at the Wormy Dog, (along with one dollar longnecks til 10) so it was an easy choice where Vinny was gonna spend his evening. After a pretty decent (but long awaited) dinner at Abuelos, the Sharks and the Jacksons (Brian and Jerri) made their way down E. Sheridan. Thankfully, Butterball had scored the long table downstairs and saved some seats. Rolled in around 830. Already, the WD was half full. Vinny's gonna say this for all you out of towners or procrastinators: When you see Ragweed, RRB, or Stoney on the bill, order your tickets online. Or, be prepared to stand in line by 9. Vinny went to the bathroom around 1130 and there were still people waiting in line (one in, one out). But anyways, that's your helpful hint for today. So, anyways, MMC hit the stage thumpin' it around 930. Props to Stoney and whoever MMC opens for in the future, but these guys are ready to headline their own gigs. Micky Braun is the shizzles. Mrs. Shark made mention that he's easy on the eyes too. Yeah, Vinny's heard that before. This was Joseph Deeb's last gig as a Motorcar. He's taking time off to spend with his family. Damn, that's gotta be hard to give up the "rock star" life, but more power to him.. Good luck with this new chapter... Oh yeah, back to the show. MMC tore it up for a good hour and a half, playing pretty much everything from Careless and closing it out with a kick ass Mrs. Robinson medley. Excellent show. After a brief intermission, the man hit the stage opening up with "Down In Flames". Once Vinny hears that guitar hook at the beginning of the song, he's ready for the rest of the nite. Stoney (fresh shaven) put on another kick ass performance. One Chord Song, Idabel Blues, Oklahoma Breakdown and....Forever Young (sung by the crowd makes it a religious experience) were all played of course, but he surprised Vinny when he played "In Oklahoma", which is also performed by you know who. If you haven't heard this song yet... you're missing out. Kick ass song. Stoney had the crowd at his command the whole nite. He threw in some ZZ Top, Hells Bells by AC/DC, Crazy Train, The National Anthem and "I Feel Good" in honor of the late, great James Brown. THIS was a great nite folks. You missed out if you weren't there. Stoney's brother, Bo, even got up onstage and sang for a bit. Two sold out Saturday nites in a row. Hot Girls everywhere, Jager Bombs over there, Mrs. Shark gettin down to some Buckcherry and Eminem after the show. Everyone had a great time. Was good seeing Kathy and Red Dirt Dave, up from Antlers Okla. Thanks again to Butterball. You rock brotha..... oh yeah, and a special thanks to Stoney himself, for taking the time out to shoot the S### with everyone after the show. Give a Shark a call sometime!! Billy Joe Shaver this weekend and Kevin Fowler and Cory Morrow next weekend.Get your asses down to the WD.
