So, the Sharks and Jacksons met Butterball and a tableful of other Wormy Dog patrons last Friday nite for a "little" party with Kevin Fowler and Ryan James. Thanks to JoJo for scoring the table downstairs. That was huge, since one of the Wormy Dog's own, Stephanie, was having her birthday party that nite. Real Estate was hard to come by. Ryan James was the opener. This was his first appearance at the Wormy Dog. Vinny had heard some good things about this guy from some websites he toils on during his work day. Initial reaction? Vinny thought his set was pretty good. Kind of a Cooder Graw type thing going on. By the sounds of things, he was very much appreciative of the Wormy Dog response. Ryan James is worth checking out. So, after his set Kevin Fowler comes on. You know by now that Vinny digs Kevin Fowler. He saved the day at last year's Spring Jam with Pat Green and Gary Allan. If it wasn't for Kevin Fowler that nite, it woulda been hugely disappointing, but anyways, back to this show. As usual, Kevin Fowler went thru all his hits, got the crowd going really good which is cool and everything. That's what counts. Butterbean is Vinny's favorite tune of KF's. But, Vinny's just got to say one thing about KF. The show just sounds rehearsed. KF tends to say the same things between certain songs all the time, at every show. You know, the "Look at all the beautiful women" stuff. "Oklahoma women/Texas women....." and the lead ins to other various songs. It kinda reminds Vinny of what Paul Stanley of KISS and David Lee Roth of Van Halen used to do up on stage. They'd say the same thing every tour. Not saying it's against the rules, it'd just be nice to hear KF change it up a little. That's it. Other than that, Vinny had another great time. Jagerbombs, Wash.Apples, Scooby Snacks and dollar beer. Damn!!! Thank goodness for cab service!! Have a nice Ragweed Day.
