Stoney Larue/Jeff Hobbs and the Jacks

St. Patrick's Day at the Wormy Dog. What does that mean? Big Party in downtown OKC. That's what it means. The Sharks rolled in to Bricktown a little bit before 6pm to go meet 18 or so of their coolest friends at Crabtown next door. Already, there was a line to get in to the Wormy Dog. Yeah, Vinny will say it again!! 6pm!!! Take a look around this city, or any city for that matter. Do you see lines forming up outside of clubs before 6pm? Yeah, Vinny didn't think so. That speaks volumes for this place and the entertainment they bring in. Well, knowing that Stoney was gonna sell out the house, Vinny went ahead and ordered tickets online to avoid having to wait in line before 6. So, after a feast at Crabtown, everyone made their way next door. 8pm, the WD was already starting to fill up. Thankfully, the Shark Table was being held by a couple of Vinny's good friends, Jenny and Bonsai. Let the party begin!! Bud Lights, Jagerbombs, and other various Wormy Dog concoctions were a flowin' by the time everyone sat down. Jeff Hobbs and Lucas came on over to say hello before they went onstage. If you've never seen these guys, go check them out the next time they are in your neck of the hood. They went on about 930 and jammed thru an hour long set. Got the crowd pumped up and ready with a bunch of their songs from their album entitled "Road To Nowhere" as well as some Folsom Prison Blues. Pick up their CD at a show and chat it up with them, while you're at it. You'll see why Vinny loves these guys. So, the JHB gets done, time for a little intermission. There was a first this nite for the Wormy Dog. During a Rob Zombie tune, Butterball gave the Wormy Dog crowd (at this time it was full to capacity) a personal table dance. Yep, Butterball got up on the Shark Table and proceeded to shake his groove thing before security came over and politely told him to get down. That was some funny chit right there. A few minutes later, Stoney went on and well.... you know what that means. Another flawless performance by one of the best in the business. From the opening chords of Down in Flames to the closing chorus of Forever Young, it's an experience that never gets old. The WD crowd was treated to "In Oklahoma" during the set as well. If you haven't heard this tune yet (a co-write with Cody Canada), you're in for a treat when you do. It is money. Thanks to Stoney for taking the time out to visit after the show. Got a great pic of him with Mrs. Shark. Appreciate that one man. We'll see you in Eufaula in May.
All in all, this was one of the better shows/times Vinny has had. Yeah, Vinny says that alot, doesn't he? Maybe it's just because the Wormy Dog just does it right. Green everywhere that nite. Green afros, Green glasses, Green hats, Green shirts, and a Shark floating around during Stoney's set. Wall to wall people, everyone getting along, just having a great time, listening to two great bands. Vinny wants to give a special shout out to all the road warriors that made it in for the show. The Harrisons (Jen and Tim) drove in all the way from CHICAGO!! Yeah, THAT Chicago. The one up there by Lake Michigan. The Boones from Antlers. Sunny and Ali from Denison Tx. The Ardmore folks... Brandi and JP and his wife. And Becki from Paris, TX. This isn't a one time deal either. These fans make this trek to OKC quite often. As do many others who weren't able to make this one. That's impressive. Support live music, wherever you are, but if you're in OKC, get your butts down to the Wormy Dog. Guaranteed good times. Vinny will see ya at the next show.
