Good Times....
Nice little get-together last night... Tucker Road once again did a mucho fantastico job on stage. Tonight, everyone is invited to come down and party with Big Silk (if you don't know who that is, you need to stop in a bit more often), as I'm sure he'll be gettting his groove on to his favs, Macon Greyson. I keep forgetting to ad that we have some close-out prices on T-shirts, so all of you early Christmas shoppers need to go back to the home page and click on the bargain bin link for some tasty deals. Also, coming soon (if they're not already there) we are doing some merch combination offers you won't want to miss. Now that we have the obscene attempt at earning some profit out of the way, just wanted to ask if anyone got their pic snapped by our roving camera man last night? If so, hopfully he'll be sending a pic or two my way, and I'll have the opportunity to feature some of you on here while you were out enjoying yourselves. Or perhaps I'll use some of the less-flattering shots to embarass the hell out of you! Either way, it ought to give you one more reason to keep coming back to read my Bull$#!* Normally, I reserve this spot to make fun of my good buddy, the Drunk Cameraman. However, I think I must have struck a nerve with him, as he is trying his best to retaliate. So, I think I'm going to hold off until I can come up with something really good, like the next time he takes off his clothes and runs around the bar pretending he's an airplane, one arm extended like the wing, the other spinning his "propeller"! DC, just WAIT until I get a pic of that!!! Have a shot or three for me!
STONEY!
Stoney "kicked it's ass!", as Kevmo would say. As predicted earlier, it was a blow-out of a party, and I'm sure there was more than one person that had to call in sick to work, or skip class... Not sure of an exact number, but it had to be very close to a sellout, if not one. The place was full! Once again, many thanks to our good friends from the Stragglers, Monty, Grantpa, and Roger for coming by, and it's always nice to see a couple of the owners stop in too. Grady and Plato made an appearance just to be sure that bidness was being taken care of... and perhaps to sample a little of the product, just to be sure it was still quality. I cut early, so I can't say for sure, but I'm willing to bet the $10 in my wallet that they found it to be satisfactory for the purpose. Also Travis Linville and Scott Evans dropped in, and many others too numerous to mention (I was also told there might have been a Shark sighting in there last night as well).... If you haven't got the CD yet, you need to! We picked up a copy of the "The Red Dirt Album", and I don't think there is a song on there we skipped past. A lot of great songwriters teamed up with Stoney on most of the tracks, and perhaps a cover or two done with Stoney's own style. The list of musicians who contributed in some form or fashion was pretty impressive as well. I highly recommend it! Oh yeah, and to the polesmoker who broke the glass out of the front door and walked a $50 tab, YOU SUCK! Take your winey, broke ass to someplace where they want an immature little wank walking around causing trouble and drinking for free, 'cause we don't need your kind of business. Not too mention there are a couple of bouncers who might get us sued if they ever catch your Bruce Lee wannabe ass in there again! I was hoping to have some good pics from last night to post, but my little, Drunk Cameraman buddy apparently lived up to his name and forgot his camera.... I hope you're STILL hungover! Tucker Road at the D-O-G tonight, and Macon Greyson tomorrow! See ya there!
catching up!
Wow! Been awhile since I did anything with this, and seeing as how I'm catching so much hell about it, thought it might be time to update a bit!! Guess the after-anniversary-party-let-your- hair-down-and-celebrate celebration took me longer to recover from than I realized! It was all quite a party, and the actual outdoor "Wormy Dog 2nd Annual Anniversary Party" was a success (despite a couple of crybabies who posted on various guestbooks). Even with the rain that threatened to ruin it all, somewhere between 1500 and 2000 people showed up, and everyone of the bands put on a stellar show! We are definately looking forward to round 3 next August, and hope to see most all of you there (excluding those who were too busy bitching to have a good time...)! Speaking of which, I see where Monty pulled the diary and guestbook down over at the Jason Boland and the Stragglers site. Seems as though a couple of losers ruined it for the rest of us, which really isn't anything new, but it still sucks everytime it happens... Oh yeah, and now that I think about it, that must be why we have the same thing starting up on our guestbook! Seems as though someone who really doesn't know any better is talking a line of BS about the real Wormy Dog and blah, blah, blah... For you, kiss my ass, as you don't know what you're talking about. For everyone else, just ignore them and they'll go away, like any sorry excuse for a human being with nothing better to do than try to make themselves feel better by running someone else down in order to bolster their own pathetic sense of self-worth. Man, I feel better already! Now, getting back to business...... Did anyone catch Mac and Travis' show last night (I know a couple of Stragglers who caught it, thanks for dropping in!)??? I saw a little of it, and of course it was cool. I mean, hell, it was the legendary Mike McClure and one of the baddest guitar pickers I think I've ever seen, Travis Linville of Burtschi Brothers fame. Anyway, part of what made it such a cool evening was the fact that there were tables and barstools right up at the front of the stage! Now, I'll admit I don't get the opportunity to see many Wednesday night shows, so perhaps this isn't anything new, but the loud, rowdy Dog I'm so used to wasn't it's normal self... Instead, it was a very intimate vibe that I don't think I've ever experienced in there before. Anyone who enjoys LISTENING to talented musicians should definately come down to check it out, as I think you'll find it very refreshing. Probably some additional commentary (as well as pics) over at Ragan's site.
Speaking of loud and rowdy, all I have to say is, Stoney LaRue with a full band, and the release party for his new CD, "The Red Dirt Album", tonight (yes, Thursday) at the Wormy Dog.... It is shaping up to be one kick-ass evening!
Last but not least, I made a promise to a good friend that I was going to somehow make fun of him everytime I put up a new post. However, due to the fact that I have yet to post since telling him that, I haven't had the opportunity. Now, I have it. Just one problem... It seems that a couple of weeks ago (actually, it was the after-celebration celebration) I drank a little too much congac (yes, I said congac), and allegedly forced him to perform some questionable acts in a very public place, and in front of several people. Since that time, I have felt so guilty that I don't feel up to making fun of him. Therefore, I will not mention anything about the parking gate arm coming down and hitting him in the head (that story was SOOOO funny!), nor will I utter one word about the last time he drank too much and passed out naked in the office of the Wormy Dog, and I won't even go into why he was on his knees in the bar, drinking from a beer bottle dangling from another guy's "waist". Now, Mr. Drunk Cameraman, since I'm willing to let bygone's be bygone's, how about we just bury the hatchet, and I'll spare you the humiliation of detailing some of the ridiculously hillarious things you've done, and start poking fun at Chuck????
As VTS would say, "Have a great Ragweed Thursday!"
Anniversary Party Corrections
We're busy getting everything ramped up for the big blowout on Friday, but we needed to point out a couple of corrections to some of the information on the homepage. First of all, the online ticket sales for the outdoor show will be up until THURSDAY at midnight. If our website administrator doesn't get the correction before midnight tonight, they may be off temporarily, but should be back on tomorrow. Secondly, there isn't free beer on Friday, but Saturday night as we continue to celebrate with our good friends, Cooder Graw. Also, a big "thank you!" to Ty Austin from 93.3 KKNG for the constant reminders about the party on Friday night! Please tune in to Ty's show, Classic Country With An Edge on 93.3, to hear more Texas and Red Dirt music than you'll hear anywhere else in OKC (except the Wormy Dog!). Looking forward to seeing you there!
