Randy Rogers Band

Wow. What a show put on by the RRB last nite. Vinny is now nursing a hangover, but it was well worth it. Good to see a great turnout (biggest RRB crowd at the Wormy). The guys were on the money and they definitely looked happy to be playing at the Wormy last nite. Chops even got on the mic during the opening song "Ten Miles Deep". That was pretty cool. Great crowd response during "Hill Country" too. They played all their great songs as well as some of the new ones that will be out on disc very soon. Vinny can't remember the names of the new ones, but they are definitely good tunes. Vinny's anxious to hear the RRB follow up to Rollercoaster, which is definitely one of the greatest Texas/Red Dirt albums to ever be produced.

Nice to see the familiar folks all come out: Daina, Trina, Brooke, Ragan, Nancy, Brian and Jerri, Butch and Jack Blue II, the guys from Plainview, and Grady Cross, as well as some new folks: Trimspa Jacket Guy, Napoleon Dynamite Cowboy, Spitcup Dude and Bertha. Vinny's gonna have to have a talk with the Security guy in the Dale Jr. hat though. Dale Jr?? Come on!! All in all, it was a great time,. Cold beer, double Apple Puckers for Mrs. Shark, great music and of course all the Oklahoma eye candy (that's a given at the Wormy Dog). Vinny hopes to see RRB at least a few more times this year. It doesn't get much better than them.
Wednesday Nite in OKC

So.. Vinny was planning on going to check out Johnny Cooper last nite after he watched the SA Spurs/OKC Hornets game at Buffalo Wild Wings. Only problem was....after Vinny and Butch (VP of VTS merchandising) ordered their beers, they were told by their waitress that BWW doesn't carry Hornets games. Huh? You've got to be kidding Vinny!! Vinny looks around at some 20 tvs, and sure enough, NO Hornets game is to be seen. Oh sure, they had the titillating battle between OU and Baylor on the big 12 foot screen. BAYLOR for Vinny's sake!!! Oh, and over there on the other big screen they had the OU women vs. Texas. Exciting stuff right there. What kind of sports bar doesn't carry live broadcasts of the home team? An NBA team at that. A sold out Ford Center... and against Vinny's World Champion Spurs and this "so called sports bar" that has Chris Paul jersies hanging on the wall and they don't show Hornets games? Sometimes Vinny has to remind himself that this is STILL a minor league town. OU comes first, THEN the NBA.... So, after Vinny and Butch down their beers, they decide to try Hooters on I-240. Surely, Hooters will have the Hornets game on. Nope, same results. OU/Baylor on pretty much every TV. They have a big Hornets calendar/poster hanging on the wall next to the bathroom, ads for free Hornets tix on the menus... but NO Hornets games on the TVs. Well, at that point, a frustrated Vinny (clad in his black Manu Ginobili shirt) decided just to stay at Hooters and get drunk. At least Vinny and Butch were treated with a very nice waitress named...... ummm, Vinny can't remember... Tiffany, Tammy, Tatiana, Tiki, ... something like that. At any rate, when Vinny decided to call it a nite at Hooters, it was already 11:30, and since 4:45 comes around real early he decided to call it a nite altogether. Vinny hopes a good crowd showed up to see JC. So......at least tonite should go better than last nite. Randy Rogers Band, after way too long since their last appearance, is at the Wormy Dog!! Hell yes!! Vinny's juiced up about this one. He hopes to see a damn good turnout tonite!! Just one more note: The VTS preconcert meal will be at Bricktown Chelino's some time around 7ish. As always, have a great Ragweed Day!!
